Super-Quick!

Super-quick, that is, if you don't wait a full two months before sewing up the two (2) very short seams, weaving in the two (2) ends, and affixing the five (5) buttons . . .

Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmerman in mystery fiber (eBay strikes again!).

My copy of the pattern is from The Opinionated Knitter, but it is available on its own for an exceedingly reasonably price ($3, US) from Schoolhouse Press.

  1. This is the easiest sweater in the world, providing you can follow directions blindly, without having a clear idea in your head of how the final product is supposed result from your mess of knitting. (It is knit in just one piece, and the "fold lines" aren't immediately evident.)

Have NO IDEA what kind of yarn this is! It is hand-dyed. It is a little shiney, but since it is hand-dyed, I'm guessing that it is a silk/wool blend rather than acrylic. (I tried that burning-the-yarn test, and honestly! How can people tell one way or the other???)

  2. I've burned acrylic yarn, yes, on purpose, to determine fiber. If it MELTS, it ain't no natural fiber.

  3. Very nice sweater. I have been wondering what the baby surprise sweater looks like. Want this book for Christmas. Now imagine my control-freakish way of knitting and my freaking out because the mess of knitting isn't looking at all like a sweater...did the same thing with the snail hat from KWT until I got to the decrease rounds and the thing came together!
